Bolster and Sham...

Here are numbers 10 and 11 of my 12 Free pattern/tutorials featuring Miss Modd! There is a light at the end of the tunnel. Not that this has been a daunting task or anything, but to be honest, I'm not sure what I was thinking when I said I would do 12 different projects. I get a little over ambitious sometimes, but a promise is a promise!

Now I just need to find a cute rug modern rug to finish off the room. Something simple that won't distract from the flow of the room. I'm kind of loving this one from AllModern.com. Or maybe this one. They also have stripes in pink! What do you think?

The links to the Bolster and Sham patterns will be on my side bar sometime this week and the full blown photo gallery of the finished room by the end of the week. It's looking so cute!

I haven't decided what to do for pattern number 12 yet. Maybe a valentines outfit? Hmmm...I'll think on it.

Better Late than Never...

Picture taken by SnapPea Photography

Yes...those are all my kids (accept for the Leprechaun on the end). Yes...this is a real picture. Yes...I can really jump that high. Yes...I am old enough to have a 14 year old. No...I did not have him when I was 12.

This is late I know, but not if you are like me and you get really excited for LOVE day then it's early, not late. This could easily be for Valentines Day or even Easter.

I am always early.

That's a lie and you probably already know that if you are following my 12 days, 12 tutorials posts because I am very, very late getting those done. But you might also know that even if I am late, I always eventually arrive. Like how I have been telling my friends I would come back to the gym since September. I meant to, I really did. I was just late, but today I arrived and now I can't walk, which might be a good thing because I'll have to stay home and finish my tutorials.

See...it all eventually gets done.

On a side note, I had my first Quilt Market nightmare last night. This one was awesome. I arrived in Salt Lake all ready to go. I had the walls of booth set up and my mannequins assembled, but I forgot to sew stuff to put in the booth. I didn't sew a single thing. I just sat there in my booth empty handed accept for a t-shirt that I quickly embellished and put on one of the mannequins. Her whole bottom half was naked, which is more than I can say for her sister who was totally naked.

Now I'm freaking out and I feel like I need to start making stuff!

But first I will complete those darn tutorials...tomorrow or Thursday at the latest, but don't be surprised if it ends up being Saturday or late Sunday night.

Ummm...

Where have I been? I don't even know. Seriously, I've been doing a 21 day detox and it's all kind of a blur. No gluten or sugar, has put me in a creativity funk! I still have 5 days left, but I'm already starting to get my grove back and I'm feeling like I need to blog something! So I do have some more tutorial/patterns to post, but I have to finish them first. I promise they are at the top of my list, right after I re-arrange my sewing room. It's bugging me and I can't focus. I laid in bed for about an hour designing a new layout in my head. I wanted to sleep more than anything, but the brain wants, what the brain wants and it could not be satisfied until the room was done. That's kind of messed up huh? Must be the lack of bread.

In the meantime, I thought I would share a sweet find on ETSY. This little pouch from Lemon Tree Studio is killing me it is so cute!

Miss Modd Bedroom Makeover...the Bed Skirt

I am a big fan of bed skirts...

Every bed in my house has one. This particular bed I think was made to not have a bed skirt, but it has to have one. Why?

Because I like to hide things under the beds.

Living in California, you don't have a whole lot of storage space. No basements, small closets, and not enough bedrooms. Everybody shares, so space is limited. In my girls room, it's usually the tall boots, story books, and stuffed animals that are left on the floor. My girls aren't really that messy, it's just they don't have places to put things. Now with this awesome IKEA bed ($100) they have a lot more! It's like adding a spare closet! I just need to find a couple of cute bins to store things in and we're set!

This particular bed skirt is called...The Miss Modd Bed Skirt. It's made from my lovely floral bouquet fabrics sewn together in strips. It was very easy to make and I think it's really going to make the bed look extra sweet. The duvet you see there is the old one that I have had on the bed for the last 3 years. I'm going to be changing it out with a nice crisp white one, so let's hope it doesn't get thrashed because I recently discovered that my youngest likes to sneak chocolate into bed at night and eat it under the covers!

I know making a bed skirt isn't rocket science, but I'm doing a tutorial anyways. If your anything like me, your mind might be boggled at the first attempt. Hopefully with a few tips and ideas it will be a breeze and you'll sew up your new bed skirt in a just a few hours without saying any bad words.

Here is the link to the PDF downloadable Tutorial! You can also find it, along with several other tutorials, on the right side bar.

Miss Modd Bedroom Makeover

After three trips to IKEA I finally got all the right parts for the bed! Why don't they put things that go together next to each other? I've never really had trouble before, but for some reason the IKEA near me is not as efficient as others I have been to. I didn't help that it is 35 minutes away either. Still, I love going there there, but have mostly been in preparation for Quilt Market so it was fun to go and browse for my house. I found a lot of stuff that I think I need.

Finally! The bed is set up and ready to be decked out. For this whole week I will be doing a Miss Modd Bedroom makeover! But first I want to share with you another tutorial that I did over the Holiday break. The I Love U Pillow....

My baby girl was so sad because I didn't put any hearts in my fabric line, so I told her I would make her a heart pillow out of the fabric. That satisfied her and together we came up with the I Love U Pillow. I made it using Fairfield's FUSI-BOO! That stuff is awesome! It is a double sided fusible batting that holds your applique, quilt, etc...in place while you sew it to the backing or whatever is underneath. It was so easy to use, it didn't gum up my needle at all, and it made this project a breeze! To get the pattern for this pillow you have to go over to Fairfield by clicking HERE. I will also have link posted on my sidebar.

It will be part of the bedroom make over along with a tutorial for a bedskirt, body pillow cover, shams, and a bolster pillow cover!

I know I should have been working on my last few tutorials, but instead I've been making...

sock bunnies! They are so fun and easy and CUTE! I got this book at a local quilt shop and of course once my girls caught site of it, I had to make them something. Target had all the socks for about $2 a pair and all the rest of supplies I had on hand. My girls have been glued to their sock bunnies. You should make some :)

More tutorials are in the works, but first a trip to IKEA is in order! I need some stuff to complete the projects. I'm excited!!!
