Sorry I missed Monday - since I am so late and Mondays seem to be a little too hectic for me to get my blogging done, I'm going to move Kill The Fat to Friday. Check out the article below about loosing 5lbs fast. I'm going to do it for a week and see if it works for me. Since I'm kind of at a stand still with the weight loss it will be interesting to see if it's carbs and sugars that are holding me back. I don't think it will kill me, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to want to die without them! I know for a fact I won't be able to do it for too long, but I think the experiment will be an eye opener as to what is really causing the fat to hold. I've got the working out every day down, but I still struggle with my food choices. Weight watchers has been eye opening for me as well. Maybe the combo of all 3 will be the secret to my success:)
You may find this hard to believe but you can lose 5 pounds in one week doing 5 simple things. You won’t be endangering your health either because your body can’t help but lose fat when you implement these five very simple principles of fat loss.
First, eliminate all bread, pasta and sugar from your diet. I know I’m going to lose a lot people with this one. That’s why I put this principle first! Most people understand why sugar is bad for your waistline. Excess sugar is stored as fat and can also cause diabetes.
But why bread and pasta? Believe me, I feel your pain but you must understand that bread and pasta are the worst things you can eat if you are trying to lose fat. It doesn’t matter if it’s whole grain, high fiber or low carb pasta, grains in any form will make you fat. Think about what bread and pasta is made from and you will understand why this must go. To make bread and pasta, grains, lots and lots of grains, are processed to make just a few ounces of pasta or a couple slices of bread. It’s like concentrated carbohydrates once you eat it and then your body has to work extra hard to burn it. Unless you are constantly exercising in the right heart rate zone, your body will store those calories and cause your metabolism to slow down. (There are some people who can eat bread and it won’t affect their metabolism but they are all skinny and probably aren’t reading this article, anyway.) If you want to lose 5 pounds fast, lose the bread.
Second, eat a small meal consisting of protein and complex carbohydrates every 2 to 3 hours. By complex carbs, I mean salad, green vegetables, or a dense fruit like apples. Or you could have a small serving (1/2 cup) of rice to make your metabolism burn fat better. Make sure you are combining the right foods to make your metablism work efficiently.
Third, eliminate fat from your diet. I know, I know this is starting to get hard. But it’s not, really. Understand that eating fat will make you fat. And if you continue to eat fat while you are fat, the fat on your body will never burn off. Besides, healthy foods can be made to taste delicious just by adding lemon juice, garlic, other spices and herbs to your cooking.
Fourth, exercise 30 minutes a day after eating your small meal. Popular opinion is that you should exercise on an empty stomach but that is not true. Your body needs the sugar from carbs for energy to exercise, otherwise it will start consuming your muscle. By eating a complex carbohydrate and a small amount of protein, your body will burn what is readily available first (the carbs in your meal), noursih your muscles with the protein then turn to fat stores for more energy.
Fifth, drink at least 100 ounces of water a day to flush out all the fat you are losing. That is 12 eight-ounce glasses, way more than the usually prescribed amount of 8 eight-ounce glasses. Your body won’t retain water and you will also speed up your metabolism.
These 5 principles of weight loss sound hard but if you take it one day at a time and commit to doing it for one week, you will see a difference and be inspired to keep going until you lose all the fat you need to lose.

Tip of the Week from Kassi: Get Your Rest - we need 8 hours of sleep each night. Sleep is the most efficient way to metabolize the stress hormone and also helps decrease inflammation. While it is important to get enough sleep, too much sleep leaves you sluggish and lazy.
Someone also told me that after 7 hours a sleep your body releases a hormone that helps your metabolise increase and your body burns fat - while you sleep! Since I am posting this at 2am, I better sleep in until 10. Good thing it's Saturday:)

Alot of this is correct, in my research, but not the "cut the fat" part. You need the right kind of fat to release the stored fat in your body. That's why we have gotten fatter in America since the inception of the low-fat movement in the 80's. You need the Omega 3's, which without, the body will hold onto the stored fat. It is actually pretty magical. When they took out fat in the food, it was usually replaced with more simple carbs (sugar) to make it more palatable. As I have posted before, it's all about controlling the insulin in your body and thus controlling inflammation, which leads to fat and also disease. (heart disease, cancer, diabetes). Hope this post helps someone.

I have to ask, what was the cleanse you posted while back? I can't find it!
hey chelsea! i think the carbs/sugar may be the key. i could NOT do it! :) i can't believe how much of that i eat!! i've realized how much i love breads and pastas as i'm making danny's food and how he can't eat anything i eat :)
so, danny's cut out all things WHITE and sugar, eating smaller-more frequent meals, lots of veggies & water, and is down 20 lbs!! i'm so excited for him! his goal is to get to his target weight by the end of may. i sure hope so!!
keep us posted to see if this works for you! it's not fair that boys lose weight faster :(
you should seriously read the Schwarzbein Principle, it will change the way you feel about fat! On that plan you cut out simple sugars and eat moderate amounts of Protein, Carbs and Fat! Fat is good for you! check it out! -Sarah
