Today I am much, much better:) To make a long story short, I passed a kidney stone. Those little things are pure evil! What in the world! What is that all about? I cannot believe that something so small can be so mean. I was out for an entire week! I also had these killer headaches all week that totally incapacitated me. I don't usually get headaches, but I can now sympathize with those of you who do. I'm so sorry.

Friday I was able to go to my first NUCCA chiropractic appointment, which is what my husband is going into, and it was nothing short of a miracle. When I came in I was off balance and my right leg was shorter than my left. By the time I left I was balanced, my legs were the same length, and by the next day my headaches were totally gone. I'm a believer!

Now we are back to Killing The Fat! I'm going to kill a lot this week since last week was shot. I'm feeling a little lazy, so I'm really going to have to motivate myself all week long. I'm going to do this by doing several posts about...you guessed it - being Natural in what we put in and on our bodies.

Do natural people bug you? They use to bug me a little, but mostly because they never eat candy, they are always really pretty, and they seem to have this natural healthy glow. So Annoying! :) Now that I am turning into a natural kind of girl, I'm not so bugged. My reasons for going natural are good and after this week you might want to try it too.

Don't worry, I still eat candy. Just not as much.

High Fructose Corn Syrup

What is it? It's un-natural, that's what it is. Basically companies are replacing sugar in the foods they are producing with High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS). They have their commercials running right now that say it is okay to use in moderation and that it's made from corn, so go ahead and eat it. The problem is, it is in EVERYTHING and it's making us fat! So eating it in moderation is hard if you aren't paying attention. I have found it in cereal, ketchup, fruit snacks, granola bars, ice cream, wheat-white-sourdough bread, candy, pop, cookies, cake, juice, and yogurt to name a few. It is everywhere and it's not good for you. What's so bad about it? Well, for one thing it's made from genetically altered corn that has been treated with all kinds of chemicals. That yummy chemical corn is being turned into a sweet syrup that is being used to replace sugar. Big companies are now able to make the same foods they use to make with sugar at a lower cost because HFCS is much cheaper than sugar. It's all about the money for them. They don't care that the consumption of it leads to obesity, diabetes, and a slew of other problems. Though we don't know all the affects of HFCS we know it's not good. My advice to you is to stay away from it. I know it's hard to keep it out of your body completely, but the more aware you are the better and the less you have it the better. HERE is a short and simple article on HFCS and it's affects on our bodies AND the environment. When you are out shopping for food, just quickly flip the package over and check the ingredients. If it says High Fructose Corn Syrup then put it back. If you are buying foods that need sweetening, you want the real thing - Sugar. Save your waistline and the planet. Don't use High Fructose Corn Syrup.

Try cutting up an apple to snack on while you make dinner. Not only is full of vitamins and antioxidants, but it fills up your tummy so you don't over eat.

Okay I so feel for you, because crazy thing is my husband also had a kidney stone last week. He had one before about two years ago so this time we knew exactly what it was, but that didn't make the pain any less! Weird question, you so don't have to answer this, but I'm so curious if you saw it when I'm assuming you've passed it. This is the second time my husband has had one (confirmed by a CT scan) and neither time has he ever seen an actual stone pass. Anyway glad you're feeling better.

Oh YIKES I hear kidney stones are the worst... even comparable to labor! I am so sorry for you! And I'm sure the headaches just make it worse. My ex-boyfriend from college passes a kidney stone on his mission in Puerto Rico, and they had no room for him in the hospital so he laid on the dirty floor of a hallway curled up in a fetal position for hours and hours until the stone passed. He strained the stone from his urine and kept it and named it Gary. He said he didn't know anyone he liked that was named Gary, so he felt it was fitting. Anyway, thought you might enjoy that kidney stone story. I've always found it hilarious for some reason. :) I'm so glad you're better!! Love ya!

And just another note...simply "corn syrup" is also HFCS! I didn't know this until I looked at the back of a bottle of Karo. You really have to read stuff...it's scary how deceiving the food industry can be! Loving all your info. Chelsea!!!

Chels you are so tough! You can get through anything! Isn't it true that passing a kidney stone is THE most painful thing to experience? Ouch!

Hi chelsea...so glad you are feeling better! I can't believe you have been through all of that. I think you should name your kidney stones too, since it's like you have to give birth to them. And then you should kill them and bury them in your back yard.
Am I a sicko???
Listen I want your new cuppy cake pattern ASAP
Hugs,
Lila

So painful! It does feel alot like giving birth. You have the back aches and the cramps. It's really terrible.

I have never seen a stone either. I think both of mine have been really small. I can't even imagine what a large would feel like and do! I almost died last time.

I'm on a special diet for the next 3 months that is suppose to help break them down. I hope it works~
