My Roots

I decided to go back to my roots and make a bolster pillow for my booth! I can't even count how many of these things I have made. If you didn't know already, I use to make bedding, chair cushions, curtains, slip covers, and whatever else people could dream up for their homes. Since I started doing clothing about 8 years ago, I haven't done much in the ways of interior decorating. But I must say, I loved making this pillow! I have a few more pillows and cushions to make for my booth today, but I did get my quilt done and I'm picking it up tomorrow. I can't wait to show you because much to my surprise it turned out really cute! It's not very intricate, just strips of fabric really, but it's my style and a good compliment to my clothing designs.

I think I might take my holiday break after Market is over and sew some stuff for the house. I've definitely got the bug!

Confession...

I'm not very good at making quilts. This is all I've got so far...

It definitely looks Pink Fig. You know, strips of fabric, ruffles, lot's of color. I think I'll do some pillows to match later. Hopefully it will be cute in the end!

I'm wracking my brain today trying to come up with lot's of fun little things to sew with Miss Modd. The patterns were all submitted yesterday and now I'm finally FREE to create! I'll keep you posted on what I come up with, but in the meantime...do you have any ideas? I need Knick Knacks for my booth.

Post your ideas here and if I pick one of yours, I'll feature you on my blog and send you a free pattern!

Miss Modd...Piccadilly Style

My first new pattern for Fall is done! The photo shoot went really, really well and I love the way the pictures turned out.

With all the new things coming out this fall, (fabric and patterns) I decided to change up the style of my patterns as well. Nothing drastic, but I think it's change you'll welcome. From now I will be designing my patterns in booklet style with full illustrations and instructions done in crisp black and white, and Full Color cover with 3 pages of vibrant color photos for you to refer to! I'll be including close up detail shots as well as some fun lifestyle pics.

I'll have another set of pictures for you tomorrow and pre-orders for my Fall patterns will start on Friday. Don't forget to check out my NEW fabric collection (shown) Miss Modd for Henry Glass Fabrics!

Two Charming Ladies

Look what just came in the mail!

My good friend Missy from Two Charming Ladies made it for me! She is pretty amazing. So amazing, that I think I will be offering some limited edition necklaces, bracelets, and charms in my shop. I'm sending her fabric this week so expect to see them in my boutique by the end of the month! I also plan to have pattern kits available, and ready or custom made clothes all out of Miss Modd. I'll keep you posted on the details and the release dates, but it should all be ready just in time for the Holidays!

It's like Christmas at my house! Miss Modd came last night and today was the much anticipated arrival of our very first pets.... BUNNIES!

They are so cute! Cotton and Snuggles. I am allergic to anything with fur, but I can't keep my hands of these sweet little things. These are pretty much the easiest pets in the world.
I love them!

Now, I have a funny story about the arrival of Miss Modd. You might think I'm lying, but I promise you this is a true story. I was afraid to post it at first, but I made the mistake of telling Lucy about it and she said if I didn't do it, she would. So here it goes...

Last night at about... well the whole day. I was freaking out over everything. My printing deadlines are next week and I am not ready. I haven't had a chance to start designing my booth yet and Market is in 3 1/2 weeks, and I didn't have any fabric to sew with. Not to mention the lack of sleep and coke overload I was experiencing. I could feel a melt down coming on.
Then at 7:30pm the door bell rings and a big old box from Korea was there! Hartman brought it in to me with a huge grin on his face. He grabbed a chair and rubbed his hands together. It's like Christmas. We peeled back the tape and peeked inside! It was FULL of Miss Modd! More than I could have hoped for. I looked it all over and then immediately started cutting. I cut and cut, until I couldn't keep my eyes open anymore.

My first sleeping position was sitting straight up with my head lopped backwards on the couch. Then my son came in and found me face down on the floor. Next I'm on the couch. Fabric pushed to the bottom and whatever else was on there, is now on the floor. 12am, I hear...come on Chels, let's go to bed. I say No, I have to wake up and sew. That didn't happen. I wake up at 2am with all the lights out and I'm freezing cold! I look down and see the lovely green birds from Miss Modd looking back me. I look across the room and see my favorite pink quilt. It's so far away and I can barely move. So I grab Miss Modd.

6:30am I wake up to a strange flash and clicking noise. After about 10 pictures I figured out what was happening. Cracking my eyes, I see Hartman standing above me laughing.

What are you doing?

Chelsea, you slept in your fabric last night! I had to take pictures.

I was cold.

Ya, right.
